Bloodstone Studios was founded in 2018 with the express goal of celebrating obscure Occult literature and traditions.
Its mission statement: "Offer truly original occult works that enrich the soul and excite the spirit."
Our first venture was the wildly popular Demon-Possessed Tarot, a carefully-researched deck featuring the 72 demons of the Ars Goetia. It was the first 78 card Tarot deck that faithfully adhered to the Solomonic principles of demon conjuration while also connecting each demon to a Tarot card.
Building off the success of that first Tarot deck, Bloodstone Studios strives to keep the spirit of ancient Occult lore alive while finding new ways to share hidden knowledge with the world.
We're a veteran-owned small business based in Los Angeles, California. Five percent of all proceeds are donated to our partner organization, Westarctica, Inc. a 501(c)(3) charitable company dedicated to fighting climate change.
What is a Bloodstone?
Bloodstone was called "stone of Babylon" by Albert the Great and he assigned it numerous magical properties. Pliny the Elder believed that magicians used it as a stone of invisibility. Damigeron, author of De virtutibus lapidum, wrote about bloodstone's special powers of divination and preserving health.
The Grand Grimoire requires a Conjurer to obtain a bloodstone and carry it in their pocket while performing various rituals. It is said the stone will protect the holder from danger, and also give them courage. Bloodstone has a reputation as a stone that abolishes fear.
In the 1800s, bloodstone was often used in signet rings and is the traditional birthstone for March.
