The Baphomet Tarot is a 78-card tarot deck devoted entirely to the spiritual wisdom, mythology, and philosophies surrounding Baphomet.
This deck embraces a wide range of cultural depictions of Baphomet and similar horned deities to provide the deepest possible connection with the ancient concept of a horned god.
These traditions include:
- Goat of Mendes: a fertility god revered in ancient Egypt.
- Baffomet: an idol worshipped by the Knights Templar.
- The Sabbatic Goat: a symbol of unity created by occultist Éliphas Lévi.
- The Horned God/Goddess: representing the union between divine spirituality and animalistic nature in Paganism and Wicca.
- Baphomet: Aleister Crowley's "divine androgyne" later embraced as a Satanic or Luciferian deity.
The Minor Arcana is fully illustrated and follows the traditional layout of four suits, except pentacles/coins have been flipped upside down and are now called "pentagrams." These cards include many surprises, including female knights (in honor of the original female Visconti-Sforza knights) and some drastic departures from the traditional Rider-Waite-Smith Tarot imagery.
The deck features matte black edges and comes with a full color instruction booklet with information about each card and techniques for reading with the deck.
The Baphomet Sigil Box was designed for this deck.
