The Sin of Satan Tarot is a 79-card tarot deck that examines the classic adversary of the Abrahamic religions in a way he has never been viewed before. It is a two-tone black and gray "woodcut" style deck to accompany the full-color Tarot of Satan.
This deck does not merely parrot modern conceptions of Satanism. It delves into the true nature of Archangel Samael, the Angel of Death, who has been called the adversary, the accuser, and the enemy. These are all expressions of the same energy: A force created by the divine source to challenge us in such a way that we either grow or die.
Each suit of the Minor Arcana represents a different religion's conception of Satan:
- Pentacles = Judaism (Old Testament): Archangel Samael, the Angel of Death, a celestial angel who carries out the will of God by challenging humanity in the material world (elemental earth).
- Cups = Christianity (New Testament): Satan, who tempted Christ in the wilderness and will someday fight against the armies of Heaven (elemental water).
- Wands = Islam (The Quran): Iblis, who refused to bow before Adam because he was made of clay, while Iblis was an angel of fire (elemental fire).
- Swords = Ceremonial Magic (Occult Grimoires): Three-headed Asmoday, the demon who battled with King Solomon and the archangels. The Zohar calls Asmoday the "Sword of Samael" and suggests he carries out the worst atrocities against humanity (elemental air).
These cards feature matte gray edges which match the gray of the background.
Every deck includes a robust guidebook that explains the meanings of each card, gives some history about the origins and mythology of Satan, and provides techniques for reading with the deck.
Pairs perfectly with the Devil Face Tarot Box.
